Lake Havasu Boat Safety–What to do know before you go!
So you have a hotel room reserved, rented a boat, and
packed your bag, but wait there is more! Here is a few things to
keep in mind while out on the water.
* Before starting your engine of the boat/jet ski, Stop and look in the water to make sure no one is near the prop
* Never allow people to board or exit your boat from the water when engine(s) are running – even at idle and in neutral your propeller may continue to spin.
* Be especially alert when operating in congested areas ie: the Channel and DO NOT enter swimming areas
* Take extra precautions near boats that are towing skiers or tubers, let those people know you see them, and stay at least 100 ft from all watercraft
* Never allow passengers to ride on the bow, transom, (seat backs), or any other places where they might fall overboard.
* Children should be watched carefully while on any watercraft.
* Everyone should be seated at all times the watercraft is in motion, it is against the law for people to be standing
* If someone falls overboard, STOP! Raise the orange flag up high enough other boats see it,
Then slowly turn the boat around, and keep the person in sight as you approach. Turn engine off and then have the person
get back in the boat.
* When someone falls ie: while towing on tube/ski alway go around to pick them up Never back up! Always be aware of where the person is
