Spring break is the perfect time for people to unwind. Many know that they want to spend their break somewhere warm, but they don’t know what they want to do.

Are you the kind of person that loves a great beach vacation, but not because you look forward to spending time tanning?

Do you love to stay active and want to go somewhere that’s warm, wet, and above all else, fun?

It’s clear that you need a vacation where water sports activities will reign. We’re here to help you plan the perfect water-oriented getaway. Check out these helpful tips.

Consider Age

When most people think about spring break, they imagine rowdy college students that are trying to unwind after finals. People forget that spring break vacations attract all kinds of people.

Plenty of teachers with families and K-12 students will be looking for spring break fun. When you’re planning, it’s important to keep age in mind.

Some places that rent jet skis, boats, and other water vehicles will have strict limits on how old riders can be. Be sure to ask about age restrictions when you’re renting a jet-ski or a boat for kids.

Think About Extra Gear

Your typical water sports won’t require a lot of extra equipment. Most of the time you’ll just need a water vehicle and you’re set. Sometimes, however, you may find that you need something extra.

Be prepared and determine what you need to bring with you and what you can rent at your destination. Some people, particularly kids, favor their own gear. Bring life jackets, goggles, and anything else you need. Have a backup plan for renting extra gear that you may require along the way.

Pack  The Right Items

To accommodate people of all ages, make sure you pack enough water, food (sandwiches are a great idea), healthy snacks, hats, blankets, jackets and sunscreen. Create a packing list and ask those that are joining you what they may need to bring to feel comfortable without overpacking.

A long day out in the sun can be exhausting and you don’t want to walk away feeling dehydrated and sunburned. Additionally, be ready for changes in the weather. While the daytime on the water can be sunny, spring nights can still be cool depending on your destination.

Put Safety First

You may be a water sports expert, but that doesn’t mean that everyone you’re traveling with is on your level.

Safety is important during your spring break. Boating, jet skiing, and other activities can be fun, but only if you know how to do them safely.

You’ll want to make sure that every adult knows how to handle the equipment and that they’re strong swimmers.
